In this essay Judge Andrew Napolitano uses the US Constitution as the basis for a legal argument for the right to bear arms and humours us with the typo that “We the People….” should really have read “We the States….”. He goes further to highlight how and why the powers of the Federal Government are limited. In his final sentence he states: “The whole purpose of the Constitution is to insulate personal freedom from the lust for power of those in government and from the passions of the people who sent them there.”
