“Friedman explains how the competition of employers for the talents of workers leads to the highest wages and best working conditions.”
That’ an idealistic view of what employers do. Often they compete for the lowest bidders of workers, resulting in a lowering of the wage and worse working conditions. Example is importing Indian engineers and IT workers to the USA on H1B visas.
I have never heard of employers doing that. If employers are competing for labour, they will outbid each other….Every single person I know of wants to spend less of their money if they can do it.
Of course an employer wants lower expenditures, whether it be in wages, raw materials or utilities….On the contrary it is unemployed workers competing against employed workers who drive wages down in a free market. An enforced minimum wage and labour unions protect employed workers at the expense of the unemployed ones preventing declines in wages. Can you point out anywhere in the such an environment where wages are declining?
I was thinking your comment was for this blog post: https://rightfromyaad.wordpress.com/2013/06/22/milton-friedman-free-to-choose-who-protects-the-worker/
